It’s that time of the year. In our society, the upcoming months will include much festivity and celebration. During the holidays, at least for the people who celebrate them, people express their holiday joy through presents, decorations, and traveling.

The first upcoming holiday is Thanksgiving. Families in November have a feast of Turkey and a variety of food on the side to make up the feast. For schools, Thanksgiving is the first extensive break students and teachers get for the year. Specials on TV such as a Thanksgiving football game or events like festivals are also on air for the holiday.

Christmas is the next major holiday to be celebrated. There are a multitude of ways people spend Christmas; religion can certainly have an effect on the holiday season. Many families celebrate this holiday, but there are indeed families that do not. Some individuals have traditions and other families just plan something different each year. Visiting other family members is done as well, whether it is just to catch up or go out of town for a holiday vacation. Also, shopping after Thanksgiving is a large part of Christmas. Black Friday, along with a fair portion of December, provide many opportunities to shop before the holiday.

The last Holiday of the season is New Year’s Eve. It is to celebrate a brand new year, and some students spend New Year’s Eve with their family in one place. In New York City, a countdown is held in EST until midnight. When the countdown is over, Families celebrate and bless one another for a pleasant year to come.
