Spirit Week is here at Indian Land High and many different activities are happening. Spirit Week is a week of school to get the student population into the “Spirit” of homecoming and feeling a part of a group and or family. This week’s theme is “Circus” “The Greatest Show on Turf.”  For the people who do not know what “The Greatest Show on Turf“ is, it’s a playoff of Barnum and Bailey Circus. This week we will have points set up and the winning grade with the MOST points from the week will be the holder of the SPIRIT STICK.

There are a lot of different ways that your grade can earn points, including purchasing Spirit Ribbons from the Media Center for $1 and participating in the Hall Decoration Contest. Judging will take place Friday morning. Each day at the beginning of 1st block this week your teacher will select 2 of the best-dressed students to the Commons for judging.  Each overall winner will receive a free dance ticket OR free homecoming t-shirt. Different dress up EACH DAY and a best dressed will be chosen each day – whichever grade that student represents will earn points and the winner gets a free homecoming t-shirt or homecoming dance ticket.

Monday and Wednesday face painting will take place and will be hosted by the Junior Citizens.

Also, this week homecoming prince and princess will be picked by 9th, 10th and 11th graders for the first time in history at IL. On Friday the winners will be announced at the PEP RALLY along with the homecoming KING. On Wednesday night of this week, the PTSO will host an annual bonfire with food, a DJ, and the announcement of the homecoming court will be made. Thursday each class will decorate their assigned hallway and whatever the class winner is will earn points as well.

Friday is a HUGE pep rally where the class with the MOST points from the week will be the holder of the SPIRIT STICK.  Friday night is the Homecoming football game against Kennan. At halftime, the Homecoming Court 2018 Queen will be crowned.  Finally, on Saturday, October 13, the Homecoming Dance will be held in the commons area from 8-12. Cotton Candy, Hot dogs, and Popcorn will be served to go along with our CIRCUS theme as well as a very popular DJ.
